20242025 Outsiders Child Care Fees

Unfortunately , we have had to increase our fees due to increased operating costs along with providing competitive wages to retain and attract amazing program leaders for you children in care.

This decision was not taken lightly and is done in order to continue providing the level of care and services your family deserves. If you haven’t already applied for subsidy -please do! Families whose income is 111,000/yr or less may be eligible to have parts of their child care costs subsidized.

With September being here and the return to school tomorrow we wanted to go over a few reminders for those of us who remain with us for the school year along with welcoming some new faces. 

We are looking forward to getting to know all the new Kindy kiddos joining us this year, we hope to help your family have a smooth transition into the school year and give your child a safe, fun place to play after school.  

Unfortunately, with all the different school schedules we are unable to accompany kindergarten gradual entry. If you child is entering kindergarten- their first day at Summit will be Sept 19th. This is a pro- d day and a chance for us to spend the day with your child, developing a relationship and prepping them for their first day of after school pick up  

 We are open from 7:30-5:30 on Pro D days and ask that your child is dropped off before 9am as we head out on an adventure. Sept 20th we will pick up your child from school as per schedule. 

Solanna and Jenessa will continue to be the friendly faces greeting your children upon pick up. 

Please send your child an extra change of clothes to keep at Summit in a Ziploc bag LABELED with their name. 

An inside pair of shoes or slippers can be kept at Summit as well- LABELED    

If your child is absent from school and will not be attending Summit, we ask that you text the Summit cell at 250-803-6306. If your child is not at their designated pick-up spot after school- we send out a search party.  

If your child is absent and you have not informed us there will be a 5$ fee added to your invoice. This covers the search party! We give you one freebie  

If your child is in grade one or higher, we will pick them up from school on the first day going forward Sept 7th.   

We will slowly be doing a name change in the near future- unfortunately our online presence is confusing for another center in Calgary that also has a summit child care program. So, we will be switching over to “The Outsiders.” Don’t you worry, we will still be providing the same great program with some awesome new swag. 

We will be closed on September 30th for National Truth and Reconciliation Day.

Everyday we head somewhere new whether it be a beach or river on the Shuswap to the many outdoor pools our area has to offer, along with mountain adventures, games, crafts, sports and all around outdoor adventures.

We are an outdoor based program and will be spending our days outside! Send your child prepared for the day!

Each day we will have a board posted at the center of our activity/outing for the next day- We often plan our days around weather, smoke and other factors we cannot control.

We are open 7:30-5:30.

Drop off before 9am. We will not wait for late arrivals.

Re-usable bag for swim gear!

Sunscreen applied on child before arrival.

All Children 7 years and younger are required to wear a life jacket in the water regardless of their swimming ability. This is for the safety of all the children in care.

This year at The Outsiders, our program leaders will be: Solanna, Joe & Shelby. If you have any questions or concerns please talk to one of us

Solanna has been managing The Outsiders since we opened and is a familiar face for all!

Joe joined us in March and has gotten to know all the kids- Joe has his CEA certifications along with a valid first aid.

Shelby works at Shuswap Explorers, our Sorrento  program and is looking forward to getting to know The Outsider kids- She has her ECEA and valid first aid as well.

Fees : All families are charged a one time fee of $10.00 for sunscreen. Still Apply sunscreen on your child BEFORE they arrive- we will make sure it is re applied throughout the day.

All invoices are due on the first of the month for that month-

If you need to make alternate payment arrangements contact :Samantha- 250-803-2996- Any unpaid invoices will result in refusal of care.

COVID Updated Policies2022 

The biggest change being that children are no longer required to isolate when a close contact.

If a parent or household member is positive the child is not allowed to attend either.

We will not be required to close unless we cannot provide required staff to children ratio due to illness and lack of staff.

Children are still required to be symptom free to attend child care.

All children in school aged programs (Summit Kids and Shuswap Explorers) are required to wear a mask while inside. Please make sure your child has a clean mask to wear after school.

The semester runs from Sept 21^st to December 16^th.  Total of 26 classes

Fall Semester: $480.00 or monthly payments of $120/month

A $50.00 Registration Fee is required. All Fees due September 1^st.

Preschool classes will run on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:45am to 11:45a.m with the first class being on September 21^st. This way we can all accommodate back to school schedules too!

This is an outdoor based preschool where we will be spending the majority of our learning time outdoors!

Classes will be held at different locations within Salmon Arm, Parents will be required to drop off their child at the class location. This allows us to start exploring, adventuring and learning right away, children will be transported back to Summit via our school bus and pick up will be at Summit Kids (1801 30St NE) .

Make sure your child is prepared for the day- we spend our days outside! Rain or Shine!

We will continue to have revised hours throughout the on-going pandemic as extra cleaning and sanitizing is needed- currently we are open from 7:30am to 5:30p.m.

At pick up – if we are inside, please text us to let us know you have arrived and we will send your child out. If you MUST enter- wear a mask inside at all times and social distance.

Please be patient as we come out the other side of this pandemic.

Updated Summit Kids COVID-19 Policies & Procedures

Here we are rolling well into February!  We have been having a ton of fun after school- visiting local parks, sledding, stomping around in the snow and playing with friends amongst doing crafts n such! Our latest Pro D Day we headed to Jump 360. What a hoot!

Please remember to send us a quick text if your child will be absent! **250-803-6306***  When we are not informed that your child will be absent we are left searching for your child which puts us behind on picking up other children who are left waiting. It is very IMPORTANT to send us a quick text or call!  If we continue to have families that do not inform us of absences they will be contacted and put on probation and may lose their space at Summit. Please be mindful of us all and let us know if your child is away for the day.THANK YOU!

If your child does not have a spare set of clothes in their backpack or left at the center please send one! Especially the under 7year olds- we are running out of our daycare spares! Just throw a spare set of clothes in a large ziplock- label and leave at Summit PLEASE

As always outdoor play is very important in our program- make sure your kids have appropriate gear for outdoor play.

Over Spring Break our hours will be 7:30 am to 6:00 p.m we will put out a schedule of events closer to.

If you will need care on days that your child does NOT usually attend please let us know ASAP as we fill up quickly.

REMINDER to Parents!!

On Pro- D Days please send your child prepared for the day!!

• Spare set of clothes! (we get dirty, wet etc…)

Now school is just around the corner! We would like to welcome our new families to Summit- we look forward to developing relationships with your kiddos.

Gradual entry kindergarten- If you will be needing pick up during this transition please let us know. We have not received school kindergarten schedules yet but will need to plan pick up accordingly!

The first Pro- D Day is September 20th.

Continue to send bathing suits and towels with your children ( you may leave these at the center) it is still very nice out and we may pop over to the beach after school!

Be sure to pack extra snacks if you know your child is a big eater- we provide one after school snack.

Invoices are due on the first of the month for that month. If payment arrangements have not been made this will result in the loss of your child care space until payment has been received.

We are now taking registrations for summer camp! We are looking forward to a fun filled active summer! It’s going to be a blast!!

Each day is an adventure, we are an outdoor based program so will be spending our days hiking, biking, exploring the Shuswap, heading to different beaches, scavenger hunts, mountain & river exploration, games,
science experiments, science center and so much more!

Please note our days are flexible and based on the group we have and their interests. Daily activities will be planned around them and what we know they will enjoy! The options are endless and we do not have a set summer schedule.

What you CAN plan for:

We will enjoy and explore the many offerings of the Shuswap and surrounding areas daily, so children should come with the following, everyday:

• Swim Gear
• Towel
• Large re-usable water bottle (we can re-fill)
• Healthy Lunch and Snacks for the day
• Appropriate outside clothes for the weather

If the children need bikes, helmets or something out of the ordinary for the day, we will let everyone know in advance.

• We will explore and have fun, every day, rain or shine!
• Bus leaves at 9:00am and returns by 4:00pm

Please label everything and read the parent handbook for more detail and what to send your child with daily. You can label your gear and leave it at the center if that makes it easier for your family.

Your space is not held until your deposit has been received.

Invoices will be sent out at the end of June for July camps.
